2A Match Report

20th February vs Eden Roskill Punjabs

This game was always going to be a struggle for a shorthanded ACSSC team, losing the toss and being put into the field only made the task harder.

With only 8 fielders for the first half of the innings, ACSSC openers Lee Gornall and Lawrence Stephens bowled superbly, seeing Eden Roskill 47/3 after 16 overs when the bowling change was made.

With part time bowlers having to make up the rest of the overs it was a bad time for lapses in the field, still the end total of 225/7 was a good result given the lack of players. Lawrence Stephens with 3/34 and Lee Gornall with 2/33 were the best of the ACSSC bowlers.

Lee Gornall being caught from the first ball of the innings, and the rest of the top five following suit for a top score of 14, ended any real chance the ACSSC team had of chasing down the runs.

Andy Arnold made a valiant attempt to save the innings but when he was bowled for 42, 123 runs were still needed with only two wickets left. Dave Meggs (42) and Lawrence Stephens (13*) put on 63 for the next wicket but the innings was wrapped up shortly afterwards for 170, a loss by 55 runs.

MVP was Dave Meggs with 92 points, Lawrence Stephens second with 73 and Andy Arnold third with 52 points.
