Game 5: vs Papatoetoe at Walter Massey Park #1

 
ACSSC captain Larry Stephens called incorrectly and for the first time this season the team were sent into bat first. The scoring started quickly but unfortunately wickets fell quickly as well, with the score at 78 after 16 overs four of the top order had already been dismissed. Andy Arnold and Campbell McKenzie saw the team through to drinks and then continued to build the score after drinks.

When Campbell McKenzie was dismissed 132 runs had been added and at 204 with 5 overs left and 5 wickets in hand the ACSSC team looked in a great position. With one Papatoetoe bowler taking 5 wickets for 1 run from 3 overs the ACSSC innings fell apart to end at 219, Andy Arnold being dismissed for 95.
 

With Dave Freeman providing the chilli chicken for lunch a well fed ACSSC team wandered out to defend their total. With light rain falling the ball quickly lost its shine and hardness, even so, both opening batsmen were bowled in the first 6 overs by ACSSC captain Larry Stephens. The next two Papatoetoe batsmen lifted the run rate, Lee Gornall dismissing one of them just before drinks seeing the score at 114/3.

After drinks Dave Freeman took control dismissing four Papatoetoe batsmen, Rob Sadler backing up with two wickets as well - the ACSSC effort only spoiled by Phil Stephens and Bruce Rome grassing oppotunities to finish the game off. When ACSSC captain Larry Stephens bowled the final Papatoetoe batsman the score was 166, a win to the ACSSC team by 53 runs.
 

Player of the day for the ACSSC team was Andy Arnold with 120 points, Dave Freeman second with 105 points and Larry Stephens third with 70 points.
