History

In 1976 the Cricket Society (Auckland) Inc was formed by a group of cricket enthusiasts, it was at the time and remains today as the only cricket society within New Zealand. Its base is the Old Members Stand which sits behind the bowlers arm on the Outer Oval at Eden Park, the home of cricket in Auckland. The organisation has recently undergone some changes aligning itself more closely with the Auckland Cricket Association and as part of this has been renamed the Auckland Cricket Society and Supporters' Club.

The Auckland Cricket Society and Supporters Club is established with four main aims:

  • To act as the official supporters' club for the Auckland Aces and Hearts.
  • To provide an organisation linking cricket enthusiasts.
  • To support junior cricket through the Auckland Cricket Development Foundation.
  • To field both competitive and social cricket teams locally and on international tours.

More recently the Old Members Stand has been renamed the Merv Wallace Stand after Auckland Cricket legend Merv Wallace. Within the stand the lounge has been named the Bert Sutclffe Lounge after Bert Sutcliffe, one of New Zealand finest ever players and past president of the organisation.

Within the Bert Sutcliffe Lounge you will find a number of facilities for members including a club bar, snacks, big screen Sky tv, an extensive cricket library and memorabilia collection. Day memberships are available, so come and visit us in the Bert Sutcliffe Lounge during a match day soon.
